Almost There

This is what I have so far. Its been awhile since my update since I've been busy with work and personal matters. But I think he's coming along quite well. I used a lot of poly flows to create detailed muscles, that I know can be done in ZBrush, but I thought it would make good modeling practice to do it old-school. I'm now moving onto the hands and feet, and then to texturing and concept of character outfit.

Remember I am following a model tutorial to study topology and found that the authors way of modeling included a lot of unnecessary flows that I decided that I could do in Zbrush instead. Please check back as I build my skills and portfolio inorder to become more of a character artist.

Slowly but Surely!

I just recently finished the head to my character. I am now working on blocking in the body, which may become a seperate element sinceI decided to go lower poly.

After that I will concept sketch the look of my character. As of now I am looking to do a samurai.

As for the head so far, I will need to tweak the roundness of the head a bit more, because right now, he's looking like a jar-head.

Starting Detailed Character


Starting my first highly detailed character for my portfolio. It apparently is a must if you want to be a 3D character modeler in the gaming industry. And serves as great practice for your 3D skills. 

I have codenamed this character "Lex". I have not fully developed his visual concept. For now I am just going to take the time to understand the best way to model the flows of the human body. Then I want to decide what fantasy world he will come out of in order to make his clothes and probably weapons. 

As you can see so far, I have started the most distinct features of Lex. As you can see this character will be high-poly. I am using tutorials to study ways professionals have chosen to layout their polys, but the character model is completely original. Stay tuned for more updates...
